PICO-DE-JACA

The Pico de Jaca is one of Amazõnia's largest venemous snakes, sometimes reaching a length of 12 feet. The other day, the guys were out harvesting bananas near Vila Fortaleza and they came across this one coiled at the base of a tree.

Saturnino raced back calling everyone and my camera to the scene. Here's what we saw.

It's hard to estimate the length of a snake on the move through the forest but our guess is that this one was at least 7 or 8 feet long... or, maybe, 9 or 10. What's your guess? For sure it was bigger than any snake I've seen up-close. What a treat to see it in it's natural state.

Lou,
Thanks for the video on the bushmaster. If I'm not mistaken, the maximum length is in feet, not meters. Anacondas are in the 10 m size category.
Cheers,
Foster

Yup, thanks Foster for catching the error. I meant to write 12 feet not 12 meters. It's corrected now thanks to your comment.
