EPARREI! IANSÃ (Santa Barbara)
In the Brazilian mixtures of Catholicism and African religions, Iansã, the Orisha of storms, thunder, lightning and wind, is syncretized with Santa Barbara and is celebrated with a feast day on December 4.
She is the fierce one capable of making serious changes. With the world heading into more and more desperate straights, it is time to honor the great feminine warrior energies, both real and imagined, who are fighting for the earth, the forests and all of us.
And, not to ignore the male warrior energy, here is a syncretism of Santa Barbara in Cuban Santeria where Iansã is a lover of Chango.
